Project Pinewood, a plan to redevelop the studio to provide homes amid permanent themed film sets, has had its planning application refused at by the Secretary of State.
Eric Pickles has refused to grant planning permission for Pinewood’s proposed development which included 1,500 homes.
The studios, near Fulmer just outside Uxbridge, wanted to build a series of permanent film sets, which would have real homes in them where people could live, helping finance the development. However, the fact that the land concerned is Green Belt appears to have ultimately blocked the project.
Pinewood Studios, a large employer of Hillingdon residents, told the Uxbridge Gazette it was disappointed by the government’s decision and that it will now take time to review the decision in detail.
