Plans in for 26 storey affordable tower in West Ealing

Plans have been submitted by Southern Grove and Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing Association for a 26-storey block of flats in West Ealing, which will be 100% affordable.

The site, at the junction of Manor Road, Argyle Road and Drayton Green, is right next to West Ealing station, which will be a Crossrail station when the Elizabeth Line opens.

55 West would be the tallest building in Ealing. It’s 100% affordable plan is enabled, say the developers, by negotiation with the five landowners involved, and an “innovative combination of contracts”. It would provide 149 apartments at either London Living Rent or London Shared Ownership.

The application is expected to go to planning committee for a decision by the end of November 2019.

The 55 West application follows recent proposals by another developer, A2Dominion, to build a 25-storey skyscraper at a site 100 metres to the south, which is a more usual 35% affordable.
