Place shaping a casualty of Harrow overspend

Harrow Council have suspended some building work and scaled back plans for place shaping research to pay for an unauthorised £8m spend.

The overspend came from unathorised spend on construction at Whitmore High School and sixth form facilities at nine secondary schools. The council is now suspending some other building projects, and cutting £1m from the budget for research into place shaping for the Civic Centre site.

Harrow Council has been investigating what could be done with their Wealdstone civic centre site, reflecting a long standing hope to move the civic hub to a Harrow Town Centre site.
