Phase One of the regeneration of the massive South Kilburn Estate is complete, with LB Brent unveiling a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.
The completion of the Albert Road at the Kilburn Wells development on Albert Road earlier this year is a significant milestone in the council’s plans to provide new homes to residents and to help regenerate the local area.
The scheme, developed by London & Quadrant and its construction partner Denne provides 153 new homes, most of which have been let to residents who live in the local area. The housing plans were widely consulted on with the local community and during construction around 30 local young people have been helped into employment and over 40 received training to get their CSCS cards.
Unveiling the plaque, Leader of Brent Council Cllr Mohammed Butt, said: “I am delighted to be here today celebrating the completion of the first phase of this fantastic scheme which is already transforming South Kilburn and having a really positive impact on local people’s lives. Regeneration gives people better quality homes and brings more opportunities and jobs into the area. That is why it is front and centre of everything we do in Brent.”
Jerome Geoghegan, L&Qs Group Director of Development and Sales, said: “L&Q is extremely proud of Kilburn Wells – it has been an exciting project to work on with the involvement of local residents and our partners. We now have a fantastic development in an area of huge potential, offering residents and house-hunters a range of high quality homes, including affordable rent, shared home ownership and outright sale. These homes are already proving popular with both residents and house hunters”
