Petts Hill Phase two to start

After the new rail bridge went in over Christmas, the next phase of improvement to the notorious bottleneck is about to start.

Phase two will begin soon, when the remains of the old bridge are cleared away, and the road widened. A new railway bridge had been installed over Christmas and New Year.

EnterpriseMouchel is set to start in early April on creating a short section of bus lane; widening the carriageway to two lanes in each direction; improving pedestrian crossing facilities and cycle tracks; and enhancing links to Northolt Park Station.

Ealing Council Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport, Councillor David Millican, said: "Work on the project is progressing well. We are confident that local people will understand that this sort of short term disruption will be outweighed by longer term benefits of the scheme in reducing congestion, improving railway and public transport links and creating a safer environment for pedestrians and cyclists."

There is a website dedicated to the project at www.pettshill.co.uk
