The District Line timetable changes which were consulted on earlier this year, and which mean the end of thje weekday service to Olympia, come in to effect his weekend.
The congestion relieved around Earls Court through this discontinuation will allow five additional trains on the busy Wimbledon branch providing space for 4,000 extra passengers during the morning peak, more trains during the evening service with six trains per hour until 23:30hrs and an additional train on the Ealing Broadway branch to get an extra 800 customers home during the evening peak.
Olympia will continue to be served by London Overground trains, which will entail a change at West Brompton if travelling from Earls Court.
The changes were not received happily by those living near Olympia, nor by EC&O, a subsidiary of Capital & Counties, who own and operate the Olympia Exhibition Centre. However, the venue remains well connected through the four trains an hour on the London Overground service.
