Octopus Approved

octopus at duskLondon & Bath Estates’ proposed scheme for the Chiswick Roundabout – the Octopus – has been approved.

The plans involve building a five storey 50m high commercial office building on the site adjacent to the elevated M4 which will be clad on one side in advertising hoardings and on the other in a shroud of LEDs, seen pictured mocked up in neighbouring Brentford FC’s colours.

The developer had hoped to have the highy sculptured Make Architects designed scheme completed in time for the 2012 Olympics, but an earlier planning┬árefusal meant that couldn’t happen.

The building will provide 50,000 sq ft of commercial space, including ground floor retail, as well as a rooftop garden and viewing gallery.

Developer Kim Gottlieb describes the building’s advertising hoardings as the “best branding opportunity in the uk”.
