Octavia plans for derelict block meet opposition

Octoavia Housing’s plans for Sulgrave Gardens in Shepherds Bush have met local opposition.

Octavia plan to knock down a disues block of flats in Sulgrave Gardens to build 31 new homes on the land, most of which would be for social rent or shared ownership. The plans are for 31 homes in four separate blocks, including 10 homes for social rent, 14 shared ownership flats and maisonettes and seven private family houses.

Some locals are campaigning against the plan, citing loss of a children’s play area. The area has been disused since the flats became empty, and has become a magnet for anti-social behaviour.

Linda Aitken of Stiduio Aitken, the architect on the scheme, is reported in the Hammersmith Chronicle as saying that most of the homes with two or more bedrooms would have their own outdoor space.
