National Grid have chosen St James to lead the regeneration of their Southall Gasworks site.
The 80 acre site has outline consent for the development of up to 3,750 homes as well as 525,000 square feet of commercial and community space, a primary school, landscaped public realm and open amenity space.
Berkeley subsidiary St James expects the project to be delivered over a 30 year period.
Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, said: “It is vital we utilise London’s brownfield sites to provide the homes needed for our growing city. This commitment by St James Group, which will accelerate the delivery of 3,750 homes, is welcome news for the regeneration of the Southall Gas works site. This canal-side area is ripe with potential, not least ahead of the arrival of Crossrail later this decade.”
