New SK Enterprise Hub plans

Following the successful bid to win nearly £2 million from the GLA’s London Regeneration Fund earlier this year, plans to create a new enterprise and community hub in South Kilburn are set to be discussed at Brent Council’s Cabinet meeting.

It is hoped that the new hub would create a sustainable model for new jobs, new start-up business opportunities, business support and training as part of the regeneration of South Kilburn.  It would also provide a permanent home for the thirty businesses currently operating from the South Kilburn Studios, which is due to be redeveloped as part of the wider South Kilburn regeneration masterplan.

Councillor Roxanne Mashari, Lead Member for Regeneration and Growth at Brent Council said: “If the Cabinet gives the green light for the proposal, it will … provide a long term enterprise and community hub, together with additional new homes in the heart of South Kilburn.”

The South Kilburn Trust is the lead partner in the plan along with the council.  The council will also work with other partners to secure additional funding, aiming to help the enterprise hub to be a showpiece for similar activities in London.

Mark Allan, Chief Executive of the South Kilburn Trust said: “We want to provide residents in the area with the long term legacy they’ve been asking for – one which supports the community and local business.  This is a great opportunity for South Kilburn and we’re looking forward to helping create an even better place for residents to live.”
