New School Building has ‘green walls’

Work has started on a new £6 million school building at Uxbridge High School. The new three-storey extension block on The Greenway, funded by Hillingdon Council, is being build by Leadbitter.

The new sixth form centre, which will cater for 250 students, will include a study room and activity studio on the ground floor, 16 teaching spaces on the upper floor, a four court sports hall, a healthy living centre and secure storage for 100 bikes. The facilities will be dual use, shared with the local community.

The new complex will also incorporate two special green living walls on the east and west gable ends to help it blend in with the natural environment. Other environmental features include a wind turbine and photo voltaic panels.
