New recycling facility planned for Yiewsley

The £40 million facility is planned for the Old Coal Depot, in Tavistock Road, a former railway sidings. It would handle more than 950,000 tonnes of waste each year and also provide a new civic amenity site (dump).

The plant should provide a local employment boost, creating up to 130 skilled and unskilled jobs for the local workforce with more created during construction, and in the surrounding area when operational.

As part of its consultation activities, Powerday are holding public exhibitions at the Yiewsley and West Drayton Community Centre on 23 and 25 September, and 7 and 9 October. A planning application is expected in mid-November.
