Leader of the Conservative Group Cllr Susan Hall has been voted in as the new Leader of Harrow Council following a vote to remove the previous leader of the breakaway Labour group.
The leadership battle followed a successful vote to remove the Leader of the Independent Labour Group Cllr Thaya Idaikkadar, who had been elected leader by the Labour group, but who then led a breakaway, from his position as Leader of the Council.
Cllr Hall said: “In the coming days I will be appointing a Cabinet, and focusing on problem areas where we need to take action straight away – such as public realm services. The budget process for 2014-15 is also just getting underway, so we will be turning our attention to that. It’s an exciting time, but we are very much aware of the challenges which confront us.”
