New community facilities approved for Carlton and Granville in South Kilburn

A range of new community facilities, and additional council housing, for the Carlton and Granville Centres in South Kilburn have been approved by Brent Council’s Cabinet.

The new community resources, which form part of the South Kilburn regeneration programme, will include improved facilities for the nursery school and families as well as a community run café.

Additional community and affordable enterprise spaces, to be managed by the South Kilburn Trust, will also be created subject to planning permission. Around 23 council homes are also set to be built by 2022.

If the proposals get planning permission later this year, building work is expected to begin by late 2019.

Cllr Shama Tatler, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Highways and Planning, said: “People told us they want to live in friendly, inclusive neighbourhoods, with good quality and accessible community resources.

“The new facilities are part of that exciting community vision and will help to build on the real sense of place and belonging that residents in South Kilburn already feel.”

The South Kilburn regeneration is a 15 year plan, currently halfway through. It is transforming the area by creating 2,400 new homes alongside improved community and health facilities.
