More plans to replace a number of blocks on the South Kilburn Estate have been approved.
The plans, designed by Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, PRP Architects and Alison Brooks Architects for Cambridge Court, Wells Court and Ely Court involve the demolition of those blocks and their replacement with a number of 3, 4 and 5 storey buildings. The redevelopment will provide 144 new homes.
The masterplan for the project aims to ‘reinstate’ the area’s pre-war street pattern and ‘urban form’ – the estate was built in the 1950s after slum clearance work. A new road featuring shared surfaces, play areas and gardens will run through the development.
Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands’ say their buildings “respond to adjacent Victorian formal villas”. Alison Brooks Architects have designed three building types of up to four storeys including apartment blocks and mews houses.
