Mayor says no to Dollis Hill

Dollis hill Boris Johnson has decided against funding the rebuilding of historic, listed, Dollis Hill House in Gladstone Park.

The Dollis Hill Trust had hoped to gain a substantial grant to restore the arson-damaged building as a community facility, but now the Mayor has decided there are higher riorities for his money, the project will need to find other sources of funds if it is to go ahead.

Since he came to power, the Mayor has been contemplating whether to honour Ken Livingstone’s promise to part-fund the restoration of the 200-year-old Grade II listed building. Mr Johnson said: “I have carefully considered the case for using taxpayers’ money towards the restoration of Dollis Hill House. However, in these harsh economic times, and with so many other priorities chasing limited resources, the money would be more effectively spent on initiatives that improve the lives of Londoners.”
