A new street market is set to open in Greenford Broadway.
Greenford Broadway Market will open on Thursday 15 March, and will trade every week on Mondays and Thursdays with over 20 stalls. The council intends to open a Saturday market later on in the year.
The market has been funded as a 12-month pilot scheme using some of the £128,000 secured by Ealing Council to revamp Greenford from the Mayor of London’s Outer London Fund.
Council leader, councillor Julian Bell, said: “This is a very exciting opportunity to boost trade in Greenford by attracting shoppers to the area. We have been careful to select market stalls selling goods to complement, not compete with existing Greenford shops. We are also exploring ideas about how community groups and young people will be able to use the market when it opens on Saturdays.”
The council has also used the funding to provide expert advice on window dressing, customer service and marketing for 19 shops in Greenford.
