Mary Macleod, MP for Brentford and Isleworth has said that while she doesn’t want to see Heathrow expand, she doesn’t want it closed either.
She disagrees with the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, who wants the airport closed and replaced by an estuary airport. Writing in the Hounslow Chronicle, she says that she wants Heathrow to remain as an airport in the long term, “perhaps in a slimmed-down format”, as part of a network of airports around London – an idea similar to that proposed by Gatwick and Stansted Airports.
