London will miss affordable homes targets

Boris Johnson has said the target of building 50,000 affordable homes will be hit, but with a year delay.

Deputy Mayor Sir Simon Milton told the London Assembly that the target will now be met by 2012. Johnson removed the 50 per cent rule, that said half of all new housing should be affordable, and replaced it with individual targets for each Borough.

The Mayor is now ‘confident’ the target will be met by 2012.
