L&G buys Bechtel

Legal & General Property has bought Bechtel House in Hammersmith.

The fund manager has acquired the headquarters office building at 245 Hammersmith Road from CBRE for £42.25m.

Bechtel House provides 164,000 sq ft of ofice space over nine storeys and is occupied almost entirely by american engineer Bechtel, whose lease runs out in 2014. Other tenants include Accor UK and Virgin Media.

Mark Russell, fund manager at Legal & General Property, said: “The Hammersmith office market is home to many international companies and benefits from excellent transport connections and infrastructure. The limited office availability continues to create upwards pressure on rents.”
