Leisure boost for Hounslow

Substantial plans have been put forward by the Council for two leisure and library 'hubs' at Isleworth Recreation Centre and Feltham Airparcs together with proposals for refurbishing Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre and New Chiswick Pool.

Fusion Lifestyle, a registered charity, was appointed last year to provide community sport and active leisure services across the borough, and have now come forward with the proposals, which are on display at the centres until Feb 6.

Leader of the council, Peter Thompson, said: “the idea of the combined leisure and library “hubs” is to pull together community facilities, and by adding shared café and social areas, create a variety of spaces where all members of the community can enjoy a variety of leisure activities. Our leisure centres have long been in need of redevelopment, which is why we made a commitment to invest an additional £2 million to improve the borough’s parks, libraries and leisure facilities."

Fusion say: “All being well, the new facilities should be available for use by Christmas 2009”.
