The new administration at Hammersmith & Fulham Council have confirmed their opposition to expansion at Heathrow.
The new cabinet member for environment, transport and residents’ services, Cllr Wesley Harcourt, said at an event: “Our residents have told us they do not want a 3rd runway at Heathrow and we stand with them.
“If the airport were to expand, the noise nuisance experienced in H&F would increase, the already-overcrowded public transport routes to Heathrow through H&F would be put under even more pressure and there would likely be a rise in congestion and traffic emissions on our roads.”
The Council says it has concerns that the economic benefits of Heathrow expansion are overstated.
LBH&F is a member of the 2M Group of local authorities opposed to expansion at Heathrow.
