Land Securities have unveiled plans for a redevelopment of the Ealing Empire cinema site at “Ealing Filmworks”.
The site on the Broadway would also include the Walpole House site and provide a pedestrian link between Bond Street, Mattock Lane and the Uxbridge Road main frontage.
It has been something of an eyesore for years following a stalled development by Empire Cinemas which has seen the listed frontage retained (pictured) in front of a cleared site used for surface car parking. There has been a long running planning dispute between the council and Empire, and the site is presently the subject of a compulsory purchase order.
Ealing Council hopes to buy the site and sell it on to Land Securities.
Land Securities plans – which they have now dubbed Ealing Filmworks – include a multiplex cinema, other retail space, and around 150 flats.
