A refurbishment of the Kings Mall in Hammersmith has been approved.
The building, much criticised for its design, will be mostly reclad to hide the concrete structure with aluminium panels. Theexternal stairs will be demolished and the entrance doors moved closer to the pavement, creating more indoor space. Signage will also be spruced up, with some new double-height shop fronts created.
The centre was acquired by the Matterhorn Palos Partnership (a partnership between Matterhorn Capital and Brett Palos Investments for £113.5 million from St Martins Property Investments in May 2011.
The 431,316 sq ft shopping centre contains 45 retail units, including Sainsbury’s, Primark, Mothercare, WH Smith and New Look. The acquisition deal also included the office towers One Lyric Square and West 45.
