King Street meets well-organised opposition

Grainger and Helical Bar’s King Street regeneration has suddenly met some organised local opposition.

The scheme, previously welcomed by locals in consultations, and feted for ridding the Borough of the hated 60’s Town Hall Extension, regularly voted the ugliest building in Hammersmith, has come in for sudden criticism about the scale of the planned development.

A new group – Save Our Skyline (SOS) – has emerged intent on fighting the idea of residential towers on the site. They persuaded 400 people to turn up at a public meeting last week, reports the Fulham Chronicle.

Locals have, so far, been enthusiastic about the scheme during the exhaustive consultation, with 80% supportive in the last round.
