King Street Competition announced

King street Grainger and Helical Bar will be launching an architectural competition to design the new public square to be created at the heart of their King Street development.

The two developers have also apppointed multidisciplinary practice All Clear Design to review proposals for the new buildings and ensure that they are fully accessible to everyone. All Clear has already had initial discussions with local disability groups to gain their input into the proposals.

The competition for the space in front of Hammersmith Town Hall will be overseen by a public square design panel, which will help select a shortlist of landscape architects.

King street model Councillor Mark Loveday, H&F Council Cabinet Member for Strategy, said: “Grainger/Helical Bar and the council are committed to continuing our robust and thorough consultation on the King Street proposals … When we are in a position to share more detailed proposals, we intend to hold a public exhibition where residents can again give us their thoughts on the draft proposals.”

The exhibition could take place early in the New Year.
