Ken Livingstone, the Mayoral candidate, has said he has an alternative plan for the HS2 route through West London.
Ken’s route, he said in an address in Hillingdon, would avoid that borough completely.
“You could take it under Euston, through Tottenham Court Road and build a couple more platforms at Waterloo. You wouldn’t need to do a thing with Hillingdon”, he said.
He told the Uxbridge Gazette his plan would allow Heathrow passengers to arrive at Euston in 25 minutes where they could change on to the high-speed trains on the existing route to Birmingham.
He made no mention of Old Oak Common, and the proposed interchange between HS2 and Crossrail.
