Imperial buys in to Perfume Factory

Imperial College has bought part of Essential Living’s Perfume Factory scheme in North Acton, and intends to build student accommodation.

North Acton is already home to the Costume Store, a Berkeley scheme occupied by University of the Arts London students.

Imperial will add to the growing student village with a 700 unit scheme on the former factory site. Essential Linving has consent for a 530 home build to rent scheme on the site on Wales Farm Road which provided the homes in two towers rising to 30 storeys, along with commercial space.

The land sale of about half the 2.6 acres is reported to have been for around £30m.

It is also reported that Essential Living plans a revised application for the portion of the site they will retain for around 450 homes, in total representing a substantial intensification of use.
