‘Hundred days’ to opening for Westfield

Westfield Westfield says the centre is 92% let, as a recruitment fair for employers is so heavily oversubscribed it turns into a brawl.

Westfield says it has let 92% of it’s 1.6m sq ft centre, which will become the third largest in the UK once open. There had been rumours that the luxury village had been hard to let, but the developer told The Evening Standard that it was having no such difficulty.

Competition for the 7,000 jobs in the new centre is so fierce that last week, a job fair at the Novotel Hammersmith attracted 3,000 people. Police were called, and turned up on horses in scenes reminiscent of seventies Stamford Bridge as two women were taken to hospital with head injuries.
