HS2 clears appeal

The Court of Appeal has dismissed applications for a judicial review of the government’s HS2 consultation.

The High Court had ruled against the applicants – which included Heathrow Hub, the company backing a rail interchange on land near Heathrow – earlier in the year, but they appealed the decision. Now the appeal has been thrown out, the government can now introduce legislation on the project, aiming for construction to start in 2017.

The potential for an interchange at Old Oak common between HS2 and Crossrail has significant regeneration potential.
