Housing benefit caps makes London Councils move tenants out

A report says that a third of London Councils are moving people out of their Boroughs following the introduction of the housing benefit cap.

The BBC London survey found thirteen councils who say they are already rehousing people outside the city as a result of the £400-a-week limit on housing benefit for private rentals which is due to begin from April 2011.

The only council named in the report is Waltham Forest, which is moving people to Luton, but it is likely that one or two of the West London Boroughs are among those doing the same.
