Hounslow roads PFI survives CSR

The recent Comprehensive Spending Review has reconfirmed the £1.4bn Hounslow Private Finance Intiative to renew the Boroughs roads.

The Hounslow Highways Private Finance Initiative is a 25 year contract to repair, upgrade and maintain the roads, pavement, street lights and signs.

The Department for Transport’s statement implies there may be some value engineering though, they say: “As resources are tight, the Government needs to ensure that every pound is spent to the maximum benefit. We will therefore be working urgently with Hounslow Council to establish how we can deliver this project affordably.”
