LB Hounslow have officially opened the new 19 home estate on Elmwood Avenue, the first council-built homes in the borough for nearly twenty years.
The estate provides a mix of social rented homes, with 80 per cent having three or more bedrooms. Two of the homes have been designed specifically for people with disabilities.
Bernadette O’Shea, chief executive of Hounslow Homes said: “This is a very special day for the Hounslow Housing partnership. This used to be a site where we were constantly dealing with dumped rubbish, and by working together we have turned a derelict site into a garden suburb community.”
The £3.3 million scheme was built with a combination of grant of £1.9 million from the Homes and Community Agency and £1.4m council funds. Construction was overseen by the council and Hounslow Homes, and carried out by United House.
