Hounslow looks to place £1.4bn highways PFI

LB Hounslow is inviting interested parties to register their interest in its highways maintenance PFI, which could be worth up to £1.4 billion.

The contract will run for between 25 and 30 years, and involves maintenance of carriageways, footways, streetlights, signs, traffic signals, bridges and street furniture. Contractors will also be required to design and build new improvement schemes.

The PFI credit allocation from the government for this project is estimated at £267 million. LB Hounslow plans to post an OJEU contract notice in the near future.
