Free stop-and-shop parking for half an hour is to be rolled out across Hounslow on all shopping streets with pay and display, following a decision by the council’s Cabinet.
The move follows the announcement of two new “stop and shop” shopping parades in Chiswick – Devonshire Parade and Turnham Green Terrace – being added to the 14 currently in operation around the borough.
Councillor Ed Mayne, cabinet member for community safety and regulatory services, said: “The stop and shop scheme is proving popular and we will be rolling this out across the borough. This solid commitment is about being fair to drivers, shoppers on the hop and supporting small businesses.”
The news comes after Harrow Council decided to scrap their free parking trial, although that decision is now under review.
