Hounslow approves Article 4’s

Hounslow Council’s Cabinet has approved two Article 4 directions restricting the conversion of industrial space in to homes.

The Article 4 Directions will be confirmed on Wednesday 10 January 2018 and will come into effect on 11 January 2018. The Article 4 Direction will remove permitted development rights for change of use from light industrial (B1c) to residential (C3) in the boroughs 32 key employment locations shown on two maps – east, and west – including the Golden Mile, North Feltham, and Bedfont Lakes.

Councillor Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council, said: “The borough needs work space as the local economy continues to grow, but faces pressure from property owners trying to convert it to residential use. By removing permitted development rights, we can ensure such change requires proper consideration of a planning application.”
