LB Hounslow have announced their plans for spending the £725,000 they received from the Mayor’s Outer London Fund.</p>
The money will be spent in Brentford and Hounslow, with a drive-in cinema and an edible bed among the activities that will be put on to encourage people to the towns to shop.</p> The drive in cinema is plannd for Hounslow town centre, as are a programme of Diwali and Christmas events, workshops for local businesses and improvements to shop frontages and the High Street.</p> The edible bed will be in Brentford marketplace, where other improvements will include a laser sculpture installation outside Watermans art centre.</p> <p> Work will now begin on bringing the plans to life, with the aim of having the first activities up and running in the next few weeks.</p> <p> Cllr Ruth Cadbury, deputy leader of the council, said: "These plans will help attract more people back to the high streets to shop, which will be a real boost to the local economy."</p> <p> The Outer London Fund aims to improve the appearance and economic competitiveness of town centres in the build-up to the Christmas period and throughout the new year.</p> |
