Hounslow Council is aiming to cut their carbon emissions by 40 per cent by upgradig their own buildings.
Schools, leisure centres and offices will undergo a range of improvements, including more efficient lighting and boilers and improved loft insulation. The council’s carbon footprint is currently 50,200 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide a year, most of which is produced by schools.
The council has committed to taking a series of steps which will lead to a 20 per cent cut in CO2 emissions by 2012, and a 40 per cent reduction by 2017.
