Hounslow Council has decided to use compulsory purchase powers to acquire land south of the High Street in Brentford needed for Ballymore’s redevelopment of the area.
At the Borough Council meeting recently, councillors voted to use the approach enable new retail, leisure, commercial and housing developments that they hope will transform the High Street and waterside areas of Brentford.
Ballymore’s plans include up to 876 new homes, and the council hope over 950 new jobs will be created.
Councillor Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council, said: “A massive amount of work has been done to progress a high quality development that will breathe new life into Brentford.
“Most of the land has already been acquired and by using compulsory purchase we are ensuring that the scheme can progress smoothly for the benefit of everyone who lives in and visits Brentford.”
