Historic and modern meet in Harrow Awards

A new house and a historic restoration are the Overall Winners of the Harrow Architectural and Environmental Awards.

The restoration and conversion of West House, in Pinner Memorial Park, into a gallery for original works by William Heath Robinson, and a bespoke modernist new house at 1 Warburton Close, share the overall crown.

Among the Highly Commended were: Stanmore Place, in Honeypot Lane by St Edward Homes, which also won a Bronze Medal in the What House awards; and 1­-9 Richards Close, Ewart and Abigale House, an affordable housing scheme;

The Harrow Architectural and Environmental Awards are run by Harrow Heritage Trust and the Harrow Observer, and supported by Harrow Council. 2012 is the 27th year of the biannual awards, which celebrate innovative architecture or designs which contribute to the local environment.
