Hillingdon to oppose HS2

LB Hillingdon will oppose the Government’s preferred route for HS2.

The route presently goes through Ruislip and Ickenham. LB Hillingdon plan to unite with 12 other Councils to oppose the plans, in a move with echoes of the 2M Group’s campaign against Heathrow’s third runway.

LB Hillingdon plan to oppose the route on environmental grounds, with leader Ray Puddifoot telling the Uxbridge Gazette; “We are not opposed to high-speed rail in principle but we believe this route is the most expensive and environmentally damaging that could be chosen.”
