The London Borough of Hillingdon is pressing the Mayor to fund better transport links in Hillingdon.
The proposals, which are part of a submission from councils in West London to the Mayor include calls for two new express bus routes to run from the North to the South of the Borough.
Cllr Douglas Mills Cabinet member for improvements said: “It is important both for our residents and for businesses that we improve transport links from areas such as South Ruislip, Northwood Hills and Harefield to destinations in the south of our borough such as Hayes, West Drayton and Heathrow.”
He added: “For a very modest investment, the Mayor can help to make a massive impact on the local economy, on local road congestion and on the environment.”
The two express bus routes would improve travel in Hillingdon and help to better link areas to the North and South of the borough. One would run from South Ruislip to Stockley Park (calling at Ruislip, West Ruislip, Ickenham, Uxbridge, Brunel University, Hillingdon Hospital, Yiewsley and West Drayton) and the second would run from Northwood Hills to Heathrow (calling at Northwood, Mount Vernon Hospital, Harefield, Uxbridge, Hayes and Harlington).
The call is part of a submission from the West London Alliance to the Outer London Commission set up by the Mayor of London.
