Following Hillingdon Council’s annual full council meeting last night, the Cabinet for 2014-15 has been announced.
Cllr Ray Puddifoot was confirmed as Leader of the Council for the next year, with Cllr David Simmonds appointed as Deputy Leader.
Cllr Jonathan Bianco has responsibility for Finance, Property and Business Services; with Cllr Douglas Mills keeping the Community, Commerce and Regeneration portfolio.
Cllr Keith Burrows gets Planning, Transportation and Recycling, and Social Services, Health and Housing will be run by Cllr Philip Corthorne.
Champions have also been appointed to carry out a representative role across the council and borough. They will work closely alongside certain interests, groups and activities.
This announcement came as the council continued their campaign against HS2, with a judicial review hearing of the decision by the Secretary of State for Transport to issue safeguarding directions without first undertaking a Strategic Environmental Assessment.
The one-day hearing held this week would, if successful, lift the current ban on developing land identified for the route of Phase 1 of HS2.
Cllr Puddifoot said: “Despite the government telling us that resistance is futile, we will continue our fight against this flawed plan, however long it takes. This is not a done deal and we will continue to challenge the Government.”
