Heston Pool replacement to be enabled by land sale

LB Hounslow is looking to appoint a design consultant to look at a replacement for Heston Pool, enabled by the sale of surplus land for housing.

The council wants a consultant for design services and to act as employers agent &  representative for a new Leisure Centre in Heston, to replace the old Heston pool which was originally built in 1936.

The council wants the new leisure centre to include a swimming pool, a teaching pool, two dance studios, a 100 station gym, a small cafe, creche, steam & sauna rooms, as well as officess and reception areas.

The consultant will also be required to produce outline proposals for an enabling mixed tenure residential development of adjacent surplus land, which the council wants to include affordable housing provided by a registered provider or Homes & Communities Agency accredited organisation. The surplus land will subsequently be sold to a third party and developed separately.

The two adjacent sites for develpment as residential have a total area of over 22,000sqm, split into one around 9,000sqm, and one around 13,000sqm.

The council is seeking applications for inclusion on a select list of consultants. The final date for the receipt of requests to participate is 20th January, 2012.
