Hendon Beacon design competition on

An OJEU tender has announced the launch of a competition to design a £30m landmark beacon in Hendon.

The new building will house the Royal Air Force Museum’s Battle of Britain collection. Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios’ plans (pictured) for the Museum published in May last yearinvolved a 116m tall tower containing a ‘scramble’ lift and suspended World War II planes. These plans now provide the overall strategic direction and core concept for the project, and now the RAF Museum is looking for a project architect to design the detail of the scheme, which will be on Grahame Park Way, just inside LB Barnet.
