Harrow Council continues consultation on its “Heart of Harrow” plans, for Harrow Town Centre, Wealdstone and Station Road, with council leader Keith Ferry saying it is about “protecting what is great about Harrow”, but helping it grow.
The Council draft masterplan is expected to shape the planning and related investment decisions in the area. It hopes to help create 3,000 new jobs alongside new homes and infrastructure.
Cllr Keith Ferry, portfolio holder for planning and economic development on Harrow Council, said: “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to help create a clear future vision for this important area right in the heart of Harrow.
“This is about protecting what is great about the area while putting in place the planning guidelines that manage future development and exploit it for the good of everyone in Harrow.
“The masterplan aims to steer new development and act as a means by which future decisions about transport, shopping, leisure and employment uses can be made – alongside enabling the improvement of streets, parks and open spaces to meet the needs of both existing and new residents and businesses.
“I have been encouraged by the interest and comments that we have already received through this process so far. Over the next six weeks, I hope that people will take the time to review this latest document and let us know what they think about our aspirations for Harrow and particular proposals for sites across the area that we have identified.”
