Hayes library will be sold

Hillingdon Council has confirmed that the former Hayes Library building will be sold.

The library, vacant since the service transferred to Botwell Green, had been the subject of a campaign to keep it in public ownership as a community centre, but the council has now decided that no “sensible plans” hjave come forward to do that, and that the best deal for Hillingdon is to sell the library for conversion into housing.

A planning application to refurbish it as five flats is pending.
