Cuts to the Crossrail budget could seriously damage the economic development value of the line to Ealing.
Speaking at the NLA West London event, Pat Hayes, Exec Director of Regeneration for LB Ealing said that he was concerned about the prospect of cuts to Crossrail’s budget. He said he was worried about how value engineering might affect the quality of the stations, their linkages to their localities, and the positive economic effect they should have.
Places like Southall need a complete new station in order to realise the full potential benefits, he said, not just a few new bits of signage.
This echoes concerns from several quarters, including that from Boris Johnson, whose support Hayes indicated was crucial.
