Harrow to waive road closure fees for Jubilee

LB Harrow is waiving its road closure fees to encourage residents to organise street parties for the Quenn’s Diamond Jubilee this year.

It says it is making sure that cost is not a barrier for residents wanting to celebrate the historic event, so will not charge for officer time and advertising the necessary traffic orders to close roads.

The Council will also be publishing a special “How To” guide encouraging more residents to volunteer, and it will include a special section on how to organise a street party.

Portfolio Holder for Environment and Community Safety, Cllr Phillip O’Dell said: “We want to make sure that as many residents as possible can enjoy street parties in suitable locations across the borough by having a simple, no-nonsense application process.”
