LB Harrow are still looking to find a site for a new Civic Centre, despite their plans to move to the Harrow College campus in the Town Centre being thwarted.
The Council had hoped to create a new Civic Campus, including Police and NHS services as well the Council offices, on the Harrow-on-the-Hill campus of Harrow College. But when Harrow College failed to win funding from the LSC for their new campus on Lowlads Road, that plan went awry.
But ‘property portfolio consolidation’ plans, as part of a £12m programme of cuts announced, mean that they still want to find a more efficient location for the seat of local government. This would mean that the present Civic Centre site (pictured) – 3.5ha near Wealdstone Station – would be available for development.
Council Leader David Ashton told the Harrow Observer that the Council were “still keen to find a site for a new civic centre, which would be smaller and more efficient than the current building in Station Road”.
